Report: Jackson backers sought cash for Ill. gov.
CHICAGO (AP) — According to a published report, businessmen with ties to both Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson discussed raising $1 million for Blagojevich as a way of persuading him to appoint Jackson to President-elect Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat.
Citing unnamed sources, the Chicago Tribune reports in a story for Friday's editions that businessman Raghuveer Nayak (RUG'-oo-veer NAY'-uk) and Blagojevich aide Rajinder Bedi (RUJ'-in-dur BEH'-dee) told attendees at an Oct. 31 meeting that they needed to raise $1 million for the governor to make sure Jackson was appointed to the Senate.
Nayak is a Blagojevich supporter who is also close to the Jackson family. Bedi has also been a Blagojevich fundraiser.
Jackson's attorney said while Jackson discussed the Senate seat with Nayak, he never asked him to do anything.

JJ Jr. said he have a meeting with the Democratic governor on the Monday before the authorities arrested the Democratic governor the next morning at 6 AM. JJ Jr said he only went there to discuss with the Democratic governor his qualifications to be senator. The meeting took 90 minutes.

Point #1. On the taped telephone conversations the Democratic governor was very explicit that the nomination was worth alot and he expected something in return. We know his attitude.

Point #2. Does it take 90 minutes for JJ Jr to outline his qualifications? Would not one think at some point during the 90 minute meeting that the Democratic governor wanted something in return. Maybe JJ Jr did all the talking..sarcasm off.

Point #3. Why did the government move so quick after the JJ Jr meeting? Maybe they wanted to preempt an announcement by the Democratic governor.

Do you recall the night Obama won and there was big celebration at Grant Park. JJ Sr. was on center stage, crying up a storm. Now we know....He was thinking now my boy has a shot at filling Obama's soon to be vacant Senate seat.

I have the questions. Does anyone have the answers? Time will tell.

Thanks for the book title.
